El calentamiento \nglobal y el continuo desarrollo de las zonas \ninundables aumentar\u00e1n progresivamente el \nriesgo de inundaciones fluviales. Los da\u00f1os \ndirectos de las inundaciones podr\u00edan llegar a ser \nseis veces superiores a las p\u00e9rdidas actuales a \nfinales de siglo si no se adoptan medidas de \nmitigaci\u00f3n y adaptaci\u00f3n al cambio clim\u00e1tico. \nMantener el calentamiento global muy por \ndebajo de los 2 \u00b0C reducir\u00eda estos impactos a la \nmitad. Unas estrategias de adaptaci\u00f3n \nadecuadas pueden reducir sustancialmente el \nimpacto de las futuras inundaciones.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid art-descr\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Descripci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Alrededor de un tercio de la poblaci\u00f3n de la UE vive a menos de 50 km de la costa. El nivel extremo del \nmar en Europa podr\u00eda aumentar hasta un metro o m\u00e1s a finales de este siglo. Sin medidas de mitigaci\u00f3n \ny adaptaci\u00f3n, los da\u00f1os anuales por inundaciones costeras en la Uni\u00f3n Europea podr\u00edan aumentar \nbruscamente de los 1.400 millones de euros actuales a casi 240.000 millones en 2100. Alrededor del \n95% de estos impactos podr\u00edan evitarse mediante una mitigaci\u00f3n moderada y la elevaci\u00f3n de diques \ndonde existan asentamientos humanos y zonas de importancia econ\u00f3mica a lo largo de la costa.<\/p>\n<p>Alrededor de 100.000 personas en la UE est\u00e1n expuestas cada a\u00f1o a inundaciones costeras.
